I collected my SZ4 Jimny in February 2019 but even before I picked it up I had a plan on what I wanted it to look like!
The SZ4 model is the entry level model in the UK but still has a great specification including cruise control, air con and bluetooth. The optional Blueish Black Pearl Metallic wasn’t my first choice of colour but due to the high demand I knew I couldn’t be picky when I found a car that was available.
Even on collection day the modifications began! I’d already bought a set of 215/75/15 Toyo Open Country Plus tyres for the Jimny, for me the standard road tyres didn’t match the Jimny’s rugged exterior styling so opted for some more chunky tyres as soon as I could.
I also fitted some Thule roof bars just after collection, the bars are Thule 762 126cm and the footpack is model 951. I recently swapped the Vault Cargo Management roof basket had on the Jimny initially for a Thule ProRide to carry my road bike. Couple of things to note if you’re looking to do the same, the recommend Thule roof bar size is 135cm but I opted for 126cm to minimise the overhang and have not had any issues. It is not possible to fit Thule Aero Bars to the Jimny, only Square Bars, however you can buy a £5 adaptor to fit the majority of accessories on the bars.
More recent modifications have come courtesy of the Suzuki Accessories catagloue and the guys at Suzuki Cardiff, these include the ‘classic front grille with white Suzuki lettering and the black vinyl spare wheel cover.
My future modification plans for the Jimny include a few more Suzuki accessories, rear window tints and some custom underside protection. Outside of mods I plan to do some camping trips in the Jimny during the Summer, some more serious off-road days and driving tours. All of which will be documented on the Welsh Jimny website and the Instagram page!
